For five years until the end of December 2008 Andy on behalf of Lloyds of London led the change programme to improve business practice in the London Insurance Market which was much less boring than it might sound.

From first January 2009 Andy, on behalf of AON International Insurance Brokers continues work on the Reform and Processing of the London Insurance Market.

Having graduated (and post-graduated) in economics, Andy spent the first decade of his career as an economist with the CBI, Bank of England and in consultancy. He then opted to do something a little more tangible, working on the development and implementation of CREST, the settlement system for equities and government debt; running IT and then UK wholesale payment systems – the means by which banks pay each other - at the Bank of England. In between he was responsible for monetary policy implementation at the Bank of England and at the Reserve Bank of New Zealand.

But on an average day he would rather be drinking tea and eating cake with his family.

Away from the working life, Andy lives in north London and has been married to Caroline for 22 years – still thankfully enjoying it – with four teenage children.

Andy has recently returned to playing (veterans) hockey in response to a mild mid-life crisis; he coaches youth hockey and cricket. He is nearly an ex-golfer, having fallen out with the game recently; and is the survivor of a number of closely fought golf battles between the Banks of England and Scotland (OK, you usually won).

Andy was brought up in Worksop, Nottinghamshire, where he came to faith as a young teenager. He is currently an active member of an Anglican church in Muswell Hill (but don’t hold that against me); and is involved in a variety of workbased ministries, particularly the London Institute for Contemporary Christianity.

Particular likes: big parties which permit my unorthodox style of dancing; lie-ins; sport in most forms; and, above all, faith that seeks to integrate the whole joyous, tearful, mysterious richness of God given life, obediently before Him.
