Chairman’s Message
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV)
We give thanks to God for his faithfulness during the past year.
The 2010 National Prayer Breakfast for Scotland was a truly outstanding event at which we were indeed greatly blessed and privileged to have General Sir Richard Dannatt with us. We congratulate General Dannatt on his elevation to the House of Lords as Lord Dannatt of Keswick in Norfolk and assure him of our prayers for himself and his family.
The 23rd National Prayer Breakfast for Scotland will take place at the Inchyra Grange Hotel, Grange Road, Polmont on Wednesday, 1st June at 7.00 am. We are honoured to have as our keynote speaker Dr John Lennox.
John Lennox is Professor of Mathematics at Oxford University, a Fellow in Mathematics and the Philosophy of Science at Green Templeton College, Oxford. He also teaches at the university’s Oxford Strategic Leadership Programme in the Executive Education Centre, Said Business School.
Dr Lennox will address the theme ‘The credibility of God’. As in past years the breakfast will conclude at 9.00 am and will be followed by a seminar at 9 30 am when Dr Lennox will be joined by the Rev David Robertson of St Peter’s Free Church of Scotland in Dundee. They will continue to explore the theme and address other issues regarding our response to the new militant atheism. A biographical sketch of Dr Lennox is included in this news sheet. It is anticipated that demand for places will be high so please reserve your place early.
It has been my privilege to Chair the Executive of the Breakfast for the past five years, the time has now come for me to stand down. A new Chairman will be appointed at the AGM in September. I want to express my thanks to all who have served on the executive during this time and in particular to the administrators and our vice chairman Mr Robert McNab.
Neil Innes
Executive Chairman
